The Fiber Artist

Wow, that sounds pretentious doesn't it. But it is the name of my company, so I decided to use it. This is where I will keep a record of works in progress in the hope that it will result in more productivity. It will also give me a place to ramble on about my life, so that maybe later I will remember what happened in ___ (fill in day, month, year of your choice).

Birthday and Summer school

Last Friday was Chase's 19th Birthday, we went over to New Albany and picked him up and went to Chedder's for dinner, we had a good time, Chase clowned and ate a huge dinner, all of his, and the rest of my salad and Sierra's dinner, once we were through with them. And then a monster cookie with ice cream topping for dessert. Mom went with us and the kids clowning annoyed her, (of course). She really is getting to be quite intolerant but that is who she is it seems. Chase is really getting quite grown up, and is stating to appreciate all of the advantages he has had in his life.

Then this weekend I made a pair of mittens for the Lakota Sioux Cheyenne River Reservation. We are going to the Kentucky Area Baha'i Summer School this weekend and I am taking more mitten knitting, we will see what I get done. These are a little too big for me so they should fit a teenager. They match this sweater. And I should have enough yarn to make mittens and maybe hats to match all of the sweaters that I made to send to them.
Well that is all for now I need to go start packing. Talk to you after Labor day.

The End of Summer

Reunion and family visits are over. We have finished freshman orientation. Paid for school books, and I have 2 sub dates scheduled. Summer must be about over. Sierra starts school on Wednesday.

I have gotten all of the yarn and patterns for Sierra, Caleb, Mark, and Rayne''s birthday or Christmas presents. Still have to pick something for Dwayne. The present for Caleb's new brother is finished. I am sending the sample of the All-in-One that was finished ages ago. I am going to ask Kelly to get me some good pictures of the baby wearing it.

I have started Chase's Birthday socks, and must finish by Monday, to get them to him in time.

And for fun I am knitting Tatiania for Sierra, it is a fun knit so far and I hope she likes it.

We both like Greenland in the new Vogue Knits so that may be next for her, we agreed that the ruffle under the bust line has to go. And the welts on the sleeves may disapper too. But first Tatania. In Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran. This is the bell cuff on both sleeves. She is fun to knit for, extra small size and a great figure so the stuff looks good on her.

Back and exhausted

We went to New York, visited with all of the relatives there. Then we went to Virginia and visited, we stayed with my brother Bob.

I made Fiber Trends felted Clogs for Mom's Birthday while we were gone, and before I sewed the outer sole closed I stuffed them with some fleece I took with me just for that purpose. Then I borrowed my Aunt Minnie's washer, (Bob and his wife Cheryl just got a new front loader) and felted them down to the right size. They are very Pink and Fuzzy.

On the way home we stopped at my Daughters house and Mark and Rayne modeled their 2007 sweaters. Mark is holding sticks up to his head like antlers, don't ask me why, he is a very strange child. They both like their sweaters very much. And I have very cute grandchildren. That is Megan in the background.

Since getting home I have been quite tired. And school must not be far away, because I am already getting calls for sub dates.
Mom decided that she wanted to come home instead of staying with my Aunt Minnie like she said she was going to. So I am relived, and her sisters are annoyed. As she says, "They'll get over it."

I am off to bed.

Here is a closeup of Rayne and her sweater.
