The Fiber Artist

Wow, that sounds pretentious doesn't it. But it is the name of my company, so I decided to use it. This is where I will keep a record of works in progress in the hope that it will result in more productivity. It will also give me a place to ramble on about my life, so that maybe later I will remember what happened in ___ (fill in day, month, year of your choice).

When I thought I was wrong I was mistaken

Looked again and the Flower Sweater does show the flowers around the bottom of the sweater but the pattern only has the flowers up the front. So I was not wrong when I thought it did show it that way, and I realize that taking the directions for the band around the bottom out was probably an editing decision, but, I don't have to like it. So I sat down, did the math, and ripped the sweater back to 2 balls of yarn and a set of empty needles. May start again this evening.

Boredom won last Saturday and I dug out the yarns for the cuff to cuff, (Sue Esser design) that I collected the yarns for before Threadbear moved from Indiana to Michigan, so over 2 years ago. the starting yarns were purchased at Patternworks, before they were sold in the Pookeepsie, NY warehouse. Off the sale table.

I started with these: All Shaefer yarns in reds with some blue and yellow.

Then I went to Threadbear and picked out blues and yellows. The blue is a Manos and the yellow is Cascade 109.

So Saturday I dug out the yarn and found the pattern, and cast on a cuff, then cast on another cuff then did a blue stripe on one then a blue stripe on the other. And after an afternoon and evening I had over 1/2 of 2 sleeves.
So after that bit of progress and rest, I returned to Beadwork with renewed enthusiasm and finished the first sleeve. I really like how the cuff turned out.

Picked up the stitches for the 2nd sleeve and have motored down almost to the underarm pickup point.

It is looking (and more importantly feeling) like spring, and the yard has dried out enough to walk on it without bringing a large amount of it back into the house with you, so I have returned to the clothesline for pictures, I think it helps.
