The Fiber Artist

Wow, that sounds pretentious doesn't it. But it is the name of my company, so I decided to use it. This is where I will keep a record of works in progress in the hope that it will result in more productivity. It will also give me a place to ramble on about my life, so that maybe later I will remember what happened in ___ (fill in day, month, year of your choice).

Here we go again

For the last 2 weeks I have been swatching, and making patterns in Sweater Wizard. It has been dark and rainy so no pictures taken because the flash washes out the pattern. I have been working on Christopher's FLAK and have finished the first sleeve, yes, my sons have very long arms. Their knuckles would drag the ground if they were my height, luckily they are not.
The picture above shows what you get if you grab the child before breakfast and shove a sweater part onto him.

It is the time to work on the grandchildren's Christmas/ birthday presents, since the grandchildren have birthdays: Oct 1,Nov 9, Dec 15, Feb 3, and June 26. There are a bunch clustered around Christmas and Ayyaim-i-ha So I need to think about both or all 3 of the gifts.

I have a felted bag that I have finished for the oldest Grandaughter's birthday, (Nov) and a boxed set of the Enchanted Forest Series for Christmas, one down and 4 to go.

Dwayne is due for a sweater this year so I have swatched and started, a school colors sweater, since he is in 6th grade, and therefore is in the Jr. Hi. School this year so he gets a red and white sweater. I have almost finished the top back of a top down sweater. I am planning a wide white stripe across the sleeves and chest. We shall see what we get. Dwayne's sweater is Plymouth Encore.

Miss Rayne will get a Lorna's Laces Shepherd Bulky in Child's play and a pair of matching socks, out of shepherd sock.

Master Mark is getting a Giraffe sweater and if I can get my hands on Master Caleb to measure him he will get the Elephant Sweater redone so that it fits. He grows so fast that even though I made a size 3 last year by the time I saw him in Oct. I knew it would not fit and did a cabled sweater instead, so I can take the Elephant apart and re-do it larger.

So all the planning of what I should be working on is done, so what am I working on?

This:

There is a Knit along starting Oct. 1 for Jade Starmores Beadwork. The Green is Cleckheaton 8 ply. The swatches are done on 3, 2.75, and 2.5 mm. As is the Turquoise which is KnitPicks
Merino DK.

The light green is Lion Cotton-ease and is much to large and heavy to use. The Knit Picks is the one I will probably use. Although the Cleckheaton looks really good.

Then there is this:

I have had the kit for a Vivian Hoxbro design Trip Trap. The kit has the yarn for the vest. And I called Harrisville Designs who make the yarn and ordered the 3 extra skeins of wool to finish the jacket, as I think I would have more use for a jacket than a vest. This is like eating peanuts, it is garter stitch, and quite mindless, but I don't find it to be boring, the color play makes it quite interesting and I keep saying just one more rectangle. This and the sweaters for Dwayne and Rayne are good new season of TV knitting.
